This week Groomer Gregg give’s a quick tip on how to keep your dogs “potty path” clean.
Shaving the “potty-path” of your dog is an important routine trim to make sure fecal material and urine (especially from a female) do not cling to their fur. An additional benefit to a routine trim around the “potty-path” is not only preventing feces and urine from building up on the fur, but the scent that can come from the build up and if the dog is primarily an indoor pet, it’s fair to assume that’s a smell most do not wish to be in the house and possibly rub off on the furniture the carpets, or anything else the dog would rub up against.
To trim the potty path, Groomer Gregg is going to use a set of clippers with a #10 blade. Lightly clip away the access hair around the area of the anus. On a female, continue down towards the area to where she urinates to make sure that area is clear as well.
If you do not wish to take on this task yourself, it’s always a good idea to have an expert do the job.
